Jill Miller, CSWA
She/Her | Clinical Social Worker Associate
At the heart of it all, I hold onto a hopeful vision: a world where people are actively healing, kinder to themselves, and less likely to harm others. If I can play even a small part in that transformation with you, it’s an honor I don’t take lightly.
I primarily work with people navigating chronic health conditions, as well as those healing from trauma, including childhood trauma, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and combat-related experiences. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, neurodivergence-affirming, and deeply committed to accessibility in therapy.
Outside of the therapy room, my life is full of laughter, pets, and creativity. I’m raising a hilarious tween, keeping up with a sassy dog, a cool cat, and even a serene axolotl—all while tending to a jungle of indoor and outdoor plants. I love crafting usable art and find joy in the meditative process of making things with my hands. Humor, animals, and mindful pauses are my go-to sources of strength, and I often bring that same spirit of groundedness and compassion into my work with clients.

How I Got Here
I’m a proud Portland native and a second-generation mental health therapist. Before stepping fully into this field, I spent 13 years as a massage therapist and mindfulness educator, specializing in Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) and guided meditation groups. Over time, I noticed how deeply trauma and chronic health conditions are connected—and realized that my scope of practice couldn’t take me as far as I wanted to go in helping people heal. That led me to pursue my Master of Social Work at Portland State University and grow into this work as a therapist.
A pivotal part of my story is also my own early experience with therapy—an experience that left me feeling dismissed and unseen. That memory still fuels my commitment to ensure no one who sits with me ever feels like their struggles aren’t “real” or worthy of care. I believe everyone deserves to be met with compassion and respect.
